There is still some disagreement about which groups should be in this family.

At this time it includes the Argyresthiinae, Yponomeutinae, Praydinae, Scythropiinae, Ypsolophinae, Osheimeriinae, Plutellinae and Acrolepiinae, which contain around seventy species.
