Caloptilia syringella (Fabricius, 1794)

Flight period: April and May, then July.

Forewing:  4.75 to 6mm. Habitat: Woods, hedgerows and gardens.

Larva: Mines privets, Ash, Lilac and White Jasmine then feeds externally in a 'cone'.

C. cuculipennella is paler with a forward projecting tuft on 2nd segment of the palps.
