Haematopota pluvialis  (Linnaeus, 1758)

Flight period: May to October.

Body:  8mm to 11.5mm.

Habitat: A wide range of habitats from damp meadows and woodland clearings, to coastal saltmarsh.

Larvae: Under moist and dry turf in meadows and probably wet soil at water margins.
